Java Syllabus/Curriculum (Over 13Y)

  • 4 Levels, 20 classes/level

This course mainly covers the testing skills of AP Computer Science A. In order for students to succeed in this exam, this lesson will give students a more systematic understanding of AP Test. Topics include primitive and class data types, methods, control structures, class design, algorithm development and preparing for exam.

For each project, students will learn

    • Designing a program, developing the algorithms it needs, and writing code to implement them

    • Testing program code and correcting errors

    • Documenting and explaining how program code works

AP Computer Science A teaches object-oriented programming using the Java language and is meant to be the equivalent of a first semester, college-level course in computer science. Students will get familiar with the concepts and tools of computer science as you learn a subset of the Java programming language. You’ll design, write, and test computer programs that solve problems or accomplish tasks. It will emphasize problem solving and algorithm development, and use hands-on experiences and examples so that students can apply programming tools and solve complex problems.
