A 6-week course to provide students a basic grasp on the different phases of production and
complete a short narrative video. Students will be assigned homework to be reviewed in class the following week. Weekly assignments will include, Cinematography exercise: students must ‘acquire’ certain shots with a camera they have available.
COURSE ORGANIZATION:
Weekly class meetings via an online platform or in person. Classes will consist of lectures and
demonstrations with homework assigned so students can practice course material and exhibit their
understanding and creativity. This course will delve into the three phases of production: pre-production,
production, and post-production. Post-course, students can expect to know the basics of how to
formulate a story, write a script, plan and execute a production, and assemble a final project in editing
software.
EXPECTATIONS:
Students are expected to pay attention during lectures, take notes, and be interactive with discussions.
While questions are not required, they are highly encouraged. However, due to time constraints for the
classes, I might recommend contacting me after the class via email, WeChat, etc. to get an answer for
detailed questions.
