This course will be offered between Dec 21-23 2020, and give students an opportunity to excel in their levels and problem-solving skills in a short time.
Grade 6-9: Python (Learn in-depth)
Students will learn programming concepts in python, such as inputs, variables, conditions, loops, and lists. Students will learn introductory data science, and use this python knowledge to analyze datasets.
- Day 1: Python basics
- Input statements
- if/else statements
- Variables
- Data types
- String concatenation/f-Strings
- Simple demo of name, age, favorite color
- Project: Chatbot, text adventure, or command line calculator
- Day 2: Loops, lists and functions
- For loops
- While loops
- Calling/Accessing elements in a list
- Adding elements to the list
- Deleting elements from a list
- Replacing elements in a list
- Project: rock paper scissors, and/or hangman
- Extra challenge:
- Day 3: Data Science
- Box plots
- Scatter plots
- Histograms
- Formatting plots
- Clustering
- Time permitting: Regression.
- Project: Cluster data
